Aare — two blades of etched solid brass, parted by a single line of light. Two tall, gently curved leaves stand side by side on the wall, with a narrow gap between them. Light rises from inside that gap, so instead of a lamp you see a fine vertical seam of glow, framed by metal that looks as if it has been weathered for decades.
The surface is acid-etched by hand, leaving an irregular pattern of raised, polished brass against darker recessed metal — something between hammered gold, lichen on stone and an old map. In daylight it is a sculptural metal relief. In the evening the light catches every raised edge and the whole piece warms to a deep, burnished gold.

A note on the finish: because the etching is done by hand, the pattern, tone and depth vary from piece to piece and will differ from the photographs. A living brass finish also deepens gently over time. These are marks of the craft, not defects.
