Momento: a glass dish, held level by three wires and a brass weight. The shade is a shallow disc of clear glass that dips into a rounded well at its centre. Three fine cables run from a single point at the ceiling down to its rim, drawing a narrow triangle in the air; a small brass sphere hangs on the central stem, counterbalancing the whole assembly.
The engineering is the ornament. Nothing is bolted, bracketed, or hidden — the fixture simply hangs in tension, and the brass ball is doing real work rather than decorating. From below you see a clear pool of glass with the light gathering in its centre; from across the room you see three lines and a point of gold.
Why it looks the way it does
-
Clear glass, not frosted. The dish is transparent, so the fixture never becomes a solid mass at the top of a room. It reads as a shape drawn in air, and the light collects visibly in the well at its centre.
-
Cable suspension. Three fine wires instead of a rod or a chain — almost invisible at a distance, so the glass appears to float unsupported.
-
A brass counterweight that counts. The sphere balances the cable assembly and keeps the dish level. It is the one warm point in an otherwise cool, transparent fixture.
-
Integrated LED. No bulb, no socket, no visible hardware to interrupt the glass. This is the only way a shade this transparent stays clean-looking.

Where to hang it
Because the glass is clear, this fixture does not block sightlines the way a solid shade of the same width would — which makes it unusually good over a dining table, where guests face each other across it. It also suits an entry, a stairwell, or a living room where you want a defined object without visual weight. Over a dining table, the 15.7" suits tables up to about 54 inches wide and the 13.8" suits smaller or round tables; hang the rim 30 to 34 inches above the tabletop. Give the cables a clear run — the triangle they draw is part of the design and is lost if the fixture is tucked into a corner.
Frequently asked questions
What sizes and prices does the Momento come in?
Two. The Ø 13.8" (35 cm) is $880 and the Ø 15.7" (40 cm) is $980.
Does it need a bulb?
No. The LED is integrated into the fixture, so there is no bulb to buy, install, or replace. This is also what keeps the glass clear of visible hardware.
Can the LED be replaced when it fails?
No. The LED is a non-replaceable module, which is stated plainly because it matters: when the module reaches the end of its life the fixture cannot be re-lamped at home. LED modules of this type are rated for many years of normal household use, and we can advise on service — but if you want a fixture you can re-bulb yourself, choose one of our E26 or E27 models instead.
Is it dimmable?
It is designed to run on a common wall switch. If you want it on a dimmer, contact us before ordering so we can confirm compatibility — wiring an incompatible LED fixture to a dimmer can cause flicker or buzz.
Is the glass clear or frosted?
Clear. The dish is fully transparent, so light gathers visibly in the rounded well at its centre and the fixture stays visually light. It does not diffuse the way opal glass does.
What is the brass ball for?
It is a counterweight. It balances the three-cable suspension and keeps the glass dish hanging level. It is structural, not decorative.
How long is the wire?
150 cm / 59 inches, suitable for standard 8 to 10 foot ceilings and shortenable at installation. Longer wire is available on request for vaulted or double-height ceilings — contact us before ordering.
How do I clean the glass?
Wipe with a soft cloth and a little glass cleaner, supporting the dish from beneath as you work — it hangs on cables and will move. Use a dry cloth on the brass and avoid metal polish, which will cut through the applied finish.
Can it be used in a bathroom or outdoors?
No. It is rated for indoor use only and is not damp- or wet-rated.
Will it work outside the United States?
Yes. It accepts AC 110-240 V and carries certification compatible with North America, Europe, Australia, and Saudi Arabia, so it runs on either a 120 V or a 230 V supply.
