The Brass & Alabaster Round Chandelier is a modern ring chandelier in solid brass with natural alabaster shades, available with 6 lights at Dia 65 x H 52 cm (25.6" x 20.5"), 8 lights at Dia 80 x H 52 cm (31.5" x 20.5") or 10 lights at Dia 100 x H 70 cm (39.4" x 27.6"), designed for the dining room, foyer and stairwell.

Alabaster is the reason to choose this over a glass ring chandelier. The stone is translucent rather than transparent, so each shade glows from within and carries its own veining — no two pieces are identical, and the light picks up the mineral pattern instead of passing straight through. Against polished brass it reads warm rather than clinical, which is what makes it work over a table people sit at rather than pass through.

The three sizes step up in both diameter and drop, so the 10-light version is not simply a wider 6-light — at 70 cm tall it is built to be seen from below and from a landing above.

Which size do I need for my dining table?
Choose the 6-light (Dia 65 cm) for tables up to about six feet, the 8-light (Dia 80 cm) for six to eight feet, and the 10-light (Dia 100 cm) for a table of eight feet or more, or a foyer with height to fill. A chandelier should be roughly half to two thirds the width of the table below it.

Is each alabaster shade identical?
No. Alabaster is quarried natural stone, so the veining and translucency vary between shades and between fixtures. That variation is characteristic of the material rather than a fault.

How high should it hang over a table?
Hang it 30 to 36 inches above the table surface. The supplied chain is 30 cm and the suspension rod length can be varied on request for higher ceilings.

What bulbs does it use?
It takes G9 base bulbs — 6, 8 or 10 depending on the size — which are not included. G9 is a small two-pin base, not a screw base; check you are not buying G4.
